Ready Man (“the app”, “we”) is an educational app that teaches practical survival and life skills. We built it privacy-first: it works fully offline, has no ads, no third-party analytics, no user accounts, and we do not sell your data.
What stays on your device
Almost everything. Your learning progress, quiz results, saved skills, kit checklists, household planner numbers, and streaks are stored only on your device and are not sent to us.
What is sent, and only when you use these optional features
- Ask the Coach (optional, premium). Your question and a small amount of context you provided (household size, pets, prep-day goal, chosen state) are sent to our server and then to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate an answer. Used only to answer you. Please don’t include sensitive personal information.
- Readiness Alerts (optional). When you choose a state, that state (e.g. “CA”) is sent to the U.S. National Weather Service to fetch public hazard alerts. No personal identifier is attached.
- Family plan (optional, premium). A nickname you choose, your readiness percentage, and any “nudges” are stored on our server under your household’s invite code so members can see who’s ready. Anyone with the code can see this household information.
- Notifications (optional). Reminders are scheduled and shown locally on your device. Enabling them needs your permission, which you can revoke in device settings anytime.
Links to other apps and websites
- Gear links. In the kit checklists, tapping the cart icon opens a product search on Amazon so you can find that item. These are affiliate links — if you buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. No personal information is shared with the retailer; it’s a normal web search.
- Rate & Share. These open the app-store listing or your device’s share sheet, with no personal data attached.
Once you leave the app, the privacy policy of that website or store applies.
What we do NOT do
- No advertising or ad networks.
- No third-party analytics or tracking.
- No selling or sharing of personal data for marketing.
- No user accounts or passwords.
Payments
Subscriptions, if purchased, are handled entirely by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
Children
The app is intended for a general, all-ages audience and teaches educational content. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention & deletion
Device data is removed when you uninstall the app or use “Reset progress” in the app. Family data on our server is tied to your invite code; to have it removed, leave the household or contact us with the code.
Changes
We may update this policy; the effective date above will change accordingly.
